AI Startups Flourish in Vietnam

New tech firms in Vietnam are increasingly adopting AI to meet market demand and attract investors. Nguyen Thi Thu Trang, founder of Vbee, said AI helps enhance user interaction and simplify repetitive tasks. Vbee, which serves 2 million users and 300 businesses, recently won $100,000 at Qualcomm Vietnam’s QVIC 2024 competition.

Olli Technology developed an AI-based operating system for smart toys, with CEO Hai Ta emphasizing AI’s role in their product differentiation.

Interest in AI is growing among both tech corporations and investors. At QVIC 2024, 70% of entries featured AI. AI adoption in Vietnam is ahead of the Asia-Pacific average, with 80% of businesses using it in the past year.

Vietnam’s AI market, valued at $470 million in 2022, is expected to reach $1.52 billion by 2030. Venture capital investment in AI in the country has hit $95 million.

Despite the potential, competition is fierce, and the need for innovation and skilled talent is critical. Collaboration between universities, businesses, and the government will be the key to building a robust AI industry.
