Vietnam has been ranked 40th in the world as a good place for foreigners to retire comfortably. This ranking was compiled by media company U.S. News & World Report.
Vietnam is ranked lower than some of its Southeast Asian neighbors, such as Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia where retirement visas have already been offered for years. However, it is ranked higher than other countries in the region, such as South Korea, Cambodia, China, and Myanmar.
The ranking was based on a global survey of more than 17,000 people who rated countries based on several factors, including affordability, tax environment, friendliness, climate, respect for property rights, and healthcare system.
The top three countries for retirees are Switzerland, Portugal, and Australia.
Last year, Vietnam ranked 39th among 85 destinations.
Vietnam is becoming increasingly popular as a retirement destination for foreigners due to its low cost of living, high-quality healthcare, and low crime rates.
Tourism industry insiders believe that Vietnam has the potential to become a paradise for retirees from all over the world. However, Vietnam has not yet launched any special visa policies for retirees.
