Viettel Post, a leading logistics company in Vietnam, has recently inaugurated a state-of-the-art smart sorting technology complex. This facility, situated in a 32,000 square meter warehouse in Quang Minh, Hanoi, was launched on January 17. The complex is equipped with three primary goods transport and classification systems: an Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) robot, a Wheel Sorter Matrix for large goods, and a Cross-belt Sorter conveyor system.
The complex stands out as one of the most automated in Vietnam, with over 200 AGV robots operating on its first floor. These robots, ideal for transporting lightweight, thin, and uniquely shaped goods, are capable of location detection and collision avoidance. They are particularly suitable for handling goods from e-commerce platforms.
The AGV robots are equipped with a quick charging feature, allowing for four hours of operation with just five minutes of charging. When the battery level drops, the robots autonomously navigate to the charging area.
The Cross-belt Sorter, another key component of the complex, is a high-capacity conveyor belt system used for sorting standard-sized packages or Cash on Delivery (COD) goods. This system has significantly optimized personnel costs, reducing them by 60%.
The complex can process up to 1.4 million parcels per day, a 40% increase from its previous capacity. This enhancement allows the system to handle up to 4 million parcels per day, meeting half of Vietnam’s e-commerce demand.
The operation of the entire complex is monitored in real-time by the NOC system, which employs technologies like Digital Twin and AI cameras. These technologies enable device status control, abnormal behavior detection, and prompt problem resolution.
In addition to the sorting complex, the logistics ecosystem comprises logistics management software, app/web systems, and a delivery technology solution chain. All these components were developed by Vietnamese engineers within a span of six months.
Mr. Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of Viettel, stated that the company aims to transform Vietnam into a regional and global logistics hub, contributing 5-6% to the country’s GDP by 2025.
